Laser cut boards for large format cameras in standard or custom sizes

​I'm pleased to offer lens boards for large format cameras laser-cut from 3mm MDF.

They retain the features of the OE factory boards: light-trap grooves or rings, cut-outs for different camera systems etc. 

Laser-cutting ensures accuracy of fit and is easier and more economical than 3d-printed plastic.

Lens hole diameters.

If using a lens in a shutter the size is easily found:

COPAL  shutter board hole diameters:

Copal 0 — 34.6 mm
Copal 1 — 41.6 mm
Copal 2 - not used
Copal 3 — 65.0 mm
Copal 3S — 64.1 mm (this may need manual checking - see note below)

COMPUR  shutter board hole diameters:
Compur 00 — 26.3 mm
Compur 0 — 34.6 mm
Compur 1 — 41.6 mm
Compur 2 — 52.5 mm (annoyingly Compur 2s were made in other sizes too! - check manually)
Compur 3 — 65.0 mm

Other shutters- Checking the required diameter:

Note that the diameter of the shutter body is often NOT the dimension needed. 

Take a look at the threaded locking ring which secures the shutter to the board.  Most have a small 'step' or flange on the side that faces the board. The step fits into the hole in the board and centralises the lens. Measure this diameter (see picture) to size your board. 

 

See the video below for a demonstration of how the shutter is often a very loose fit in the hole until the ring is fitted.

 

If the locking ring is flat with no step, go ahead and measure the shutter diameter at the threads.

Locking Pins:

Some shutters have a small screw on the back which sticks out by 1-2mm and prevents the assembly from rotating. As there are many variations in the position of this screw my boards are supplied WITHOUT the notch or hole to match. It's easy to trial fit by gently tightening the lens locking ring until the screw contacts the board and makes a mark. Remove the shutter and file or drill the board to take the screw. Alternatively just remove the screw entirely. It's not really necessary.

Blank boards.

Supplied without the lens hole for your own fitment.  Note the centre is marked - useful on Linhof/Wista boards as the lens axis is offset quite a bit as standard.

Recessed boards

​

I carry Sinar boards with a 30mm recess to the panel. This is useful with short focal length lenses. I can supply deeper or shallower recesses on request. Message me if you need something special.

Fits Sinar Norma, F and P models, Wista (10"x8" model) and Horseman.
